CELLO INSTRUCTOR

YAN-KAI PENG

Yankai Peng started to play the cello when he was eight years old. He was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music in 2011 and followed Prof. Mingqing Yu and Dr. Xin Lu to learn the cello performance. He has performed with the China Youth Symphony Orchestra and the China Youth National Orchestra, and his trajectory spans around Western and Eastern Europe. Later in 2015, He went to Texas Christian University to study for an artist diploma with full scholarship and TA position, learned under Dr. Castro Balbi and Dr. Ignacy Gaydamovich. After that He decided to continue his cello study in University of North Texas and learning with Prof. Eugene Osadchy since 2017 and obtained his master’s degree in 2019. He is studying for doctoral of music art degree right now with full scholarship and TF position. During his studies in the United States, he always focused on performing, teaching and orchestra playing. He also used his spare time to work in several orchestra such as Monroe symphony orchestra and Fort Smith symphony orchestra. He hopes to continue to shine in the music area and go further.
