FLUTE, PIANO INSTRUCTOR

You Yang

You Yang (pronounced as Yoh Yahng) is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in music at the University of North Texas (UNT). As a flute soloist, she has been the first prize winner of the Myrna Brown Artist Competition from the Texas Flute Society, and prize winner in the young artist competitions of the Seattle Flute Society, Philadelphia Flute Society, and the Atlanta Flute Club.  

 

As an orchestral player, she was a full scholarship recipient of the 2020 Detroit Symphony Orchestra Summer Institute, the substitute flutist for the New World Symphony 2020-2021 season, and an opera orchestra fellow of the 2019 Miami Music Festival. As an educator, she was a teaching fellow at UNT and has given masterclasses at the Texas Flute Society. 

 

In her private teaching, she tailors lesson plans to each student’s personality and learning pace. She strives to help her students find their inner artists. She graduated summa cum laude at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (BM) where she studied flute and piano performance, and with honors at the New England Conservatory (MM).
