VIOLIN INSTRUCTOR

Hyun Jung Kim

Hyun Jung Kim, a talented violinist hailing from South Korea, began her musical journey at the age of five. Her dedication to the violin is evident in both her academic and musical pursuits. Commencing her studies at Ewha Womans University in South Korea under the guidance of Professor Taekju Lee, she obtained her Bachelor of Music degree, which laid the groundwork for her profound love and deep passion for the violin. After graduating, she focused on her teaching and performing career before pursuing a Master of Music degree at the University of Texas in Austin, studying under Sandy Yamamoto.

Currently, she is advancing her expertise and skills through doctoral studies at the University of North Texas, supported by a full scholarship under the mentorship of Professor Julia Bushkova. In addition to her academic work, she serves as a Teaching Assistant while also holding the position of violinist in the Bancroft Quartet, where she continues to shine in chamber music. She previously honed her chamber music skills as a member of the Marie A. Moore Piano Trio. Additionally, her deep interest in Early Music and Baroque violin leads her to actively participate in the Baroque Orchestra at UNT, where she broadens her musical horizons.

Alongside these activities, she is deeply committed to her orchestral performances and dedicates significant time to teaching young musicians, fostering the next generation of musicians.
