Anton Mordasov

Anton Mordasov came to international attention in 1990 when he won Gold medal at the Rachmaninov International Piano Competition and Bronze medal at the IX Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition, both in Moscow. He studied at the Moscow State Conservatoire of music under auspices of the legendary Tatiana Nikolayeva and after her sudden death in 1993 he became a student of professor Sergei Dorensky.

In the 1990s Anton’s busy touring schedule took him to Switzerland, England, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Japan, United States, Canada, Spain, France, Portugal, Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, as well as all major cities in Russia.  In 1991 the grandson of Sergei Rachmaninov invited Anton to perform a solo recital at Villa Senar in Hertenstein, Switzerland. In 1993 Anton has performed Rachmaninov’s Paganini Rhapsody with the New Moscow Symphony Orchestra at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Anton also performed at London’s Royal Festival Hall, Milan’s Sala Verdi, Munich’s Herkules Hall, Montreal’s Place des Arts, the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatoire  just to name a few. In 1998 Anton performed a solo recital at New York’s Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.  

In 1996 Anton has won Gold medal at the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, OH, and was the top prizewinner at the Montreal International Piano Competition. He moved to the United States in 1996 and became an American citizen in 2012.

In the United States Anton received his Artist Diploma from TCU in 2001 and was invited to participate in the Van Cliburn International Piano competition in 1997 and 2001. Anton finds his passion in teaching students of all ages and levels. He enjoys seeing students grow to love and understand music. Anton Mordasov is currently a piano faculty member at the Music Institute of North Texas in Frisco, he also serves as a pianist at Vista Ridge United Methodist Church.

Anton has been teaching since 2006.
